More specifically, the work will cover the following segments of LaSalle Boulevard: from 31st Avenue to Gagné Street and from 80th Avenue to 78th Avenue. These segments were chosen in collaboration with the Borough.
“LaSalle Boulevard is an important arterial road for LaSalle residents and for many visitors from Montreal – it’s a magnificent and panoramic road that lines the river for nine kilometres and provides access to the Lachine Rapids”, said Mrs. Barbe. “This re-surfacing work for two sections of the pavement will ensure that drivers will have a more comfortable ride and the shorelines will be more tranquil, as well as ensure security and safety for residents.”
The works will begin this autumn and should be completed in Spring 2009.
“Our administration made a commitment to Montrealers to rehabilitate the metropolis’ road infrastructure which has not received sufficient investment for decades. This is why an unprecedented amount of close to $181 million has been reserved this year. The major works that will be carried out for LaSalle Boulevard are a result of this thinking and form part of the short term action plan of the 2008 Road Resurfacing Programme”, Mr. Forcillo added.

Sammy Forcillo, Vice-President of the City of Montreal Executive Committee and person in charge of finance, infrastructure, road networks, and water management and Manon Barbe, LaSalle Borough Mayor, announced an investment of $1,128,480.00 for LaSalle Boulevard’s reconstruction.
