LaSalle participates in Earth Hour

For the third consecutive year, LaSalle Borough will be participating in Earth Hour by turning off the lights of the Fleming Mill on Saturday, March 27 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

By shutting down the lights of the Fleming Mill, LaSalle’s heritage symbol, the Borough will be joining the City of Montreal by showing its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fight against climate changes.

LaSalle residents are invited to get involved in this event by turning off their lights at home. Why not take advantage of this opportunity to adopt a more ecological lifestyle - take public transportation, do your washing with cold water, take a quick shower instead of a bath, etc. You can visit the event’s web site at www.earthhour.org and register.

This global event started in Australia in 2007 to make people aware of the importance of committing themselves to conserving energy in order to fight climate changes by doing simple acts such as turning off lights for an hour. Last year, this event attracted the participation of more than 88 countries. In Canada, about 10 million people as well as companies in more than 275 cities joined the movement.

LaSalle is inviting everyone and all companies to participate in this world event by turning off their lights for an hour on Saturday, March 27 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
