Teenager pleads guilty to involuntary homicide
Faced with the evidence against him, a 17-year-old teenager accused of beating a drug dealer to death in LaSalle pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary homicide.
The murder was committed around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19 in the parking lot of a depanneur on Thierry Street. Two days later, a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old minor were arrested and charged. Armed with a baseball bat, the two accused attacked their victim near the depanneur. The 21-year-old suspect and the 17-year-old got out of the car and attacked the victim on the head until he fell down unconscious. The attackers fled the scene and left the victim for dead.
The teenager was charged with second-degree murder and has been detained since his arrest on March 21. He will be officially sentenced on June 28.
