Sara Capanna shines in Great Canadian Writing Contest
Sara Capanna, a 5th grade student at the Allion School, was the Regional Prize Winner in a writing competition, the "GMAC Great Canadian Writing Contest". Erica Marrone, a 6th grade student, was also honoured for being the 3rd place Provincial Winner
This national contest allows students the opportunity to publish an original novel. Sara Capanna's novel, entitled A Day of Treasures, was chosen from among hundreds of entries from all over the province. On June 13, Sara was honoured at her school, where she received a participation certificate and a Sharp electronic dictionary, offered by Sharp Electronics Canada.
Since Sara Capanna won the first prize on a regional scale, her school's library received a book donation worth $1,000, offered by Harper Collins Canada.
For her third place finish, Erica Marrone received a participation certificate as well as a variety of gifts.
