Kevin Challenger and Boston College Eagles win the Champion Sports Bowl
Final victory of 24-21 against the Spartans of Michigan State
After having excelled with the Bantam and Midget Warriors of LaSalle, receiver Kevin Challenger who is a native of LaSalle, just completed another excellent season with the Boston College Eagles who grabbed the honors in the Champion Sports Bowl among American university teams, thanks to a 24-21 victory against the Spartans of Michigan State.
This ultimate match was played in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, December 28, 2007. The Boston College Eagles achieved a historical record in the American Bowl by winning their 8th consecutive title. Challenger only received one catch for a six-yard gain.
A season of dreams
The Boston College Eagles completed the regular season with a shining record of 11 victories and 3 defeats, representing the sixth best performance in the United States. The team won 11 victories for the first time since 1940. Twenty-five year old Kevin Challenger who stands 5 feet 10 inches and weighs 178 pounds, collected a total of 45 passes, adding up to 551 yards with five touchdowns.
Beautiful career
After playing with the Warriors of LaSalle, Kevin Challenger proved to be a sensational player with the Cheetahs of Vanier College, AAA collegial circuit. He led this circuit with 11 touchdowns and catches, totaling 530 yard gains. He also excelled as a specialist in kick returns. To get into Boston College, Challenger obtained a full scholarship in 2003 which covers dormitory fees, textbooks, school expenses, etc.
Boston College Eagles are part of Division 1, which also includes the following teams: Wake Forest, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
In the Canadian Football League, the rights of Kevin Challenger belong to the Stampeders of Calgary who selected him during the second round (14th rank on the whole) in May 2006.
