Leg pains force sprinter Hank Palmer to slow down
Feels pain during Saskatoon’s Knights of Columbus Invitational Meet
A pain in his legs forced Canadian sprinter and LaSalle resident Hank Palmer to slow down after having run some thirty meters during the 60-meter competition of Saskatoon’s Knights of Columbus Invitational Meet (Saskatchewan) held on Saturday, February 9. The sprinter had to content himself with a performance of 6.95 seconds during the competition.
When he felt the pain, Palmer decided not to take any risk, preferring instead to preserve his energy and protect his legs from any injury so he could make it for the next competition. It was therefore Nicolas Macrozanaris who won the 50-meter and 60-meter runs. After scoring their individual victories, sprinters Palmer and Macrozanaris will engage in the their next battle on Saturday, February 16 at McGill University for the McGill Open II track and field at Tomlinson Fieldhouse.
When both sprinters competed against each other at McGill a few weeks ago, Hank Palmer reached the finish line ahead of his opponent by a very slim margin. Macronazaris now holds the title for best Canadian performer in the 60-meter race (6.66), beating Palmer’s 6.67.
A native of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, 22 year old Hank Palmer lives in LaSalle and is working double-duty in hopes of being among the world’s top 16 sprinters and making it to the Olympic Games in China on the 8th to the 24th of August 2008.
