Report taking by telephone
New Service de police de Montréal department
The Ville de Montréal and its police service (SPVM) are offering the public greater flexibility in filing an incident report. From now on, citizens can make a report by telephone rather than having to come down to the service counter of their PDQ.
The extended service hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. 7 days a week, are a tremendous advantage for those who cannot or do not want to leave home. To use the report taking service by telephone, 9-1-1 must be called first.
Report taking by telephone is offered in any of the following situations:
* Break-in or theft of a vehicle
* Certain petty thefts without violence
* Misdemeanours (vandalism, trespassing, etc.)
* Lost objects that require a police report (e.g., wallet, etc.)
Changes at the PDQs
The restructuring of SPVM activities has led to changes at the PDQs. The new service counter hours are as follows: everyday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
As of February 25, PDQ 13 Nord has closed. Citizens can now go to PDQ 13 Sud for service. The station is located at 8745, LaSalle Boulevard.
Keep in mind that by restructuring its activities, the SPVM can assign more than a hundred police officers to patrolling. This increased presence in the field enables the PDQs to better respond to local needs and intervene more quickly, mainly by relying on a multidisciplinary team.
