Sprinter Hank Palmer competes in the Antilles
One competition in Guadeloupe and another in Martinique
Three Quebec sprinters one of whom is LaSalle resident Hank Palmer are participating in two competitions in the Antilles: one in Guadeloupe and the other in Martinique. They left Quebec on March 26 and will be returning on April 18.
Hank Palmer will be competing in these two competitions as follows:
* 2e edition of the Scirocco International in Guadeloupe on Saturday, March 19. Hank Palmer had participated in this competition last year and won the 100-meter dash (10.28) as well as the 200-meter dash (20.97).
* 28e edition of the Colonial Invitation in Martinique on Saturday, April 5. This is the first time that our sprinters will be taking part in this competition.
Hank Palmer, Nicolas Macrozonaris and Kimberley Hyacinthe will use these invitational meets to increase their speed and endurance capacities during training sessions scheduled in between the two competitions. During the winter in Montreal, they could not run beyond the 70-meter high speed dash because the curbs were too steep and they didn’t want to injure themselves.
A native of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, 22-year old Hank Palmer is working double time in hopes of landing a spot among the world’s 16 best sprinters to qualify for the Olympic Games in China on the 8th to the 24 of August this year.
