Orchard primary school receives helping hand @E:Indigo Love of Reading Foundation assists schools in need @R:The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation will contribute an additional $1.5 million to Canadian schools in need. This brings the total amount to $6 million to-date. Twenty primary schools from all over Canada will each receive up to $160,000 over a period of three years. Among the schools to benefit is the Orchard primary school located at 400 80th Avenue in LaSalle. This school is part of the Lester-B. Pearson School Board and was known as Laurier-MacDonald school in the past.
“The Indigo Foundation puts emphasis on our most precious resource: our children”, said Heather Reisman, president of Indigo Books & Music Inc.“By providing schools with the resources they need to buy books, we’re making a contribution towards a promising future for our children and to alleviate the crisis that Canada is experiencing. We encourage provincial governments to follow the example of the Ontario government and to invest substantial sums for the purchase of books and for hiring librarians in our schools.” This year, 20 schools will receive financing from the Indigo Foundation to promote a love of reading. The goal of Indigo Love of Reading Foundation is to promote learning in primary schools that are in need. Indigo Books & Music Inc. is the largest book retailer in Canada.
