Allion's «Right To Play» Field Day
On May 29th 2008, Allion Elementary held its very first field day to support “Right to Play”. This organization gives children in many of the world’s most disadvantaged countries opportunities to enjoy sports and games and to simply enjoy playing with one another.
For a couple of weeks, Allion students raised funds and were able to collect over $5,000 for “Right to Play”! Many athletes and Olympians are involved in the “Right to Play” organization. We were thrilled to kick off our special field day with the help of Caroline Ouellette, member of the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team and gold medalist. A friendly soccer game between the staff and students was also started off by Lloyd Barker and Darko Kolic, former Montreal Impact soccer players.
The Right to Play Field Day was organized by Allion’s Phys Ed teacher, Ms. Kathy Mikic and students of the Global Education Club. This initiative was supported by all of Allion’s staff and parent volunteers. A special thank you to the LCCHS students in the Phoenix program for their assistance with the many events during this special day.
