Why dance ?
There are many reasons to choose dance lessons for your child. Like most sports, dance class can be a rewarding experience for any child. The structured classes introduce the child to healthy exercise as they learn to move well. Boys, as well as girls, can excel in dance as proven by the many reality shows such as «So You Think You Can Dance». Studio Dans'Atout offers classes from Kinderdance to Adult with the 3 to 6 year olds taking lessons in ballet and tap. Primary classes in ballet, tap or jazz begin at age 7.
Unlike many sports, children may begin at any age and will then progress at their own spped. Each child is seen as a unique individual with different talents and personalities. The teachers are dedicated to teaching your child how to dance properly before teaching them a specific dance number. Following the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum your child will receive quality dance instruction from qualified teachers.
Speaking as a mother, I cannot tell you how happy I am that my 3 girls and 1 boy have had the opportunity to take some dance lessons. Only one, so far, had made a career of it, but each and every one of them has benefitted from their classes. Dance teaches body awareness and muscle control, rhythm and aerobic exercise. It gives children self-confidence and an opportunity to develop their talents. It teaches self-discipline and concentration, which definitely carries over into their second school work.
Every child is not going to want to make a career of dance, but 2 or 3 years of lessons will never be a waste of time. They will have learned to move to music which is so beneficial to both boys and girls during the teenage years when they want to participate in high school musicals, phys.ed dance classes and proms. They will have had a chance to perform in yearly shows on stage in front of sold-out audiences, which is an unforgettable experience for every child, and they will have made friends who can last a life-time.
Studio Dans'Atout welcomes boys and girls, teenagers, men and women to try a class before registering, if they like. For more information, 514-362-0112.
