For the resignation of Mayor Barbe and the Councio

Everything I have warned you about is going to start next year. Mayor Barbe painted a grim picture for what is to be expected for the 2007 taxation year. Because the City of Montreal is giving us $36M dollars for our operating budget for 2007, LaSalle's council has no choice but to start taxing for special circumstances to find extra revenue, for an amount equaling $8M dollars according to Mayor Barbe.

"They want to spend more money in streets and parks" she said, oh yes, we have to finally re-do the Latour Bridge, was also part of the reasoning. Mme. Barbe, Montreal has been giving LaSalle $36M dollars as our operating budget for the last 3 years. We have spent money regularly in our parks, we have resurfaced our share of streets, our snow-removal operation has been the same since the mergers, so what will change for 2007? As for the Latour Bridge, Montreal City had passed a resolution in 2004, putting aside $3.2M dollars for the 2005 year. Where did this money go, seeing that the bridge is still not done ? Where will this extra $8M of LaSalle citizens tax dollar go? Are you telling us that in 2007 you will spend an extra $8M dollars in LaSalle? Do you want to make us believe that the cost of Hydro Quebec has gone up so much ? Montreal City needs to find $400M dollars, and we have to pay the bill? If you were so concerned with spending money wisely, why did you spend $2M dollars to renovate City Hall, again ? One mor"How much money of the $12M dollars from the City of LaSalle surplus remains ?

You have been lying to the citizens since the 2004 De-Merger battle. You told all the citizens then to stay with Montreal because we would be better off financially. When are we going to start being better off? The true reasons you wanted to stay with Montreal is for your own personal benefit and you were told to say that by M. Tremblay ! You want to justify the inevitable increase in taxes everyone is going to get with this cockamamie story of prices going high, and not enough of an operating budget. You should resign from your position as Mayor and Councillors ! Transparency, a word I have heard many times from the your mouth, however I have never seen it being applied. When did you hold a public consultation? Again the improper use of the word TRANSPARENCY. Everything you all do is done behind closed-doors.

The citizens has no voice in Montreal. With a population of 80 000 people, LaSalle should have had a politician sit on the Executive Committee since 2002. LaSalle has never had anyone sit on this important committee, which would guarantee our fair share of this so called economic growth. M. Tremblay doesn't think LaSalle has politicians intelligent enough, or perhaps they just don't care about LaSalle? Take our money and run! This is only the beginning. Like I always said, it's going to be worse !
