At the Legion National Championships in New-Brunswick
Joseph Brunetta, 15, and Nicole Riley, 17, recently completed a great track and field season, both winning medals at the Legion National Championships, August 11 in Oromocto, New-Brunswick.
Members of the Kilomaîtres LaSalle Team, they represented Quebec after winning Provincial Championships in High Jump (Joseph 1.80 M, Nicole 1.60 M). Joseph also won a silver medal in Shot Put (13.73 M).
At the Legions, Joseph won bronze in the Cadet High Jump (1.85 M) as well as silver in the 4 X 100 M Relay (45.48) and bronze in the 1600 M Medley Relay (3:50:49). Nicole won a bronze in the Juvenile Girls High Jump (1.64 M), the third year in a row she has medaled at the Legions.
Earlier in the summer, Joseph had a stunning jump of 1.90 M (6 ft, 3 in) at the St-Laurent Meet while Nicole caught the eye of some Division 1 NCAA Universities with a 6th place (1.68 M) at the United States High School Championships in New York City.
