Francis King is stuck on stamps !
Francis King, just came back from a stamp collecting exhibition in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a silver medal, and will be heading to Bucarest, Romania, in 2008 for another international event.
Only 18 years old, Francis has been stuck on stamps since he was nine. His theme was "tropical fish and their environment." This recent competition was his third international event. "I was in Salamanca, Spain in 2002, where I received a bronze medal, and in 2006, I went to Belgica, Brussels, where I qualified for a silver medal. I work on weekends and I go to Cégep during the week. But I always find time for my passion. I have a full life and I never get bored. My parents, Jean Robert King and Hélène Hamel, have always encouraged and supported me."
Stamp collecting is more than just a hobby. "It has taught me about the world; it's a source of information for me, teaching me about fishing and water pollution. We should preserve our oceans and what's in them."
