Re-pavement completed on Angrignon Boulevard
The major work undertaken last June to re-pave the sidewalks of Angrignon boulevard between Irwin and Saint-Patrick streets is now officially complete.
On Monday morning, Sammy Forcillo, who is responsible for infrastructure, road networks and water management for the City of Montreal and LaSalle Mayor Manon Barbe announced that they were happy that the work has been completed.
The work was carried out during the period June to September in line with the re-pavement of roads of the road network. The goal of the work was to install a bituminous resurfacing of sidewalks between Irwin and Saint-Patrick. The City of Montreal ordered the smoothing out and re-surfacing of some segments of the boulevard as well as the reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs, islands and the central mall. Some of the underground pipes for lighting were also reconstructed.
“The re-surfacing of this section of Angrignon boulevard is part of the total investment of $100 million allotted to highway roads by the administration in 2007. We committed to invest in our road networks in order to compensate for the lack of investment in the last decades. We wanted to fulfill our objective of providing Montreal residents with a safe and better quality road network by dedicating $500 million worth of funds between now and the end of 2009”, explained Mr. Forcillo.
“I am happy that the Tremblay-Zampino government has provided close to $4 million for the repaving work of Angrignon boulevard, a priority of our borough. In addition to it being one of the main principal entry points to LaSalle, Angrignon boulevard lies at the core of one of the most important commercial districts of the island of Montreal. This investment will not only benefit LaSalle residents, but also all residents of the west and central regions of Montreal, particularly our business people”, stated Mrs. Barbe.
