Giovanni Baruffa, Candidate for District 3

Over the last couple of weeks I have been meeting many people in District 3 and my message is the same to everyone, when we work together we can achieve great things and over come many obstacles. My program is simple and it involves us working together.

* kids come first and should be at the center of all decision-making;

* to be open to parents' and teachers' concerns and problems;

* to guarantee that our schools reflect the values of parents;

* to improve communications between teachers and parents;

* to initiate a review of the discipline policy especially in our high schools

* to ensure that all students have access to adequate counseling, diagnostic and other specialized services necessary for them to succeed;

* to encourage the implementation of a program for gifted children;

* to ensure that support is in place when children with special needs are integrated into regular classrooms;

* to ensure that the adult education platform is adapted to meet the needs of our adult students and the community;

I will stand up for you and your children. I will make sure that the funding we get is correctly distributed and placed in the areas that it is needed most. I am the person that will vote for amendments to the Board’s Strategic Plan that promotes open honest two-way communication among students, staff and parents, this is essential. The school board should not be hiding any information from parents and the community. 1 Goal, 1 Focus, Student Success.
