40 km/hr: Zero Tolerance For Offenders Now In Force!

The one-month tolerance required by the Ministère des Transports is now over and police officers will start to take harsh measures!

One month already

Since the start of October, a vast campaign has been set in motion in order to inform the public about the speed reduction from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr in all residential areas of LaSalle.

Signs, announcements in local newspapers, articles in electronic media and a letter from Ville de Montréal's police department are among the many ways and means used to publicize this new speed limit among all residents. Since the 40 km/hr limit has now been in force for one full month, offenders will no longer be tolerated.

40 km/hr tolerance

During the first month of this new speed limit, the police were lenient toward offenders and gave them time to adapt to it. This tolerance period is now over. Starting in November, the police will begin taking harsh measures if you exceed the speed limit. So drive carefully on the road and heed the speed limit of 40 km/hr.
