Hydro-Québec welcomed five companies in line with its Écolectrique network, one of them being Fleischmann's (Fleischmann’s Yeast), a division of LaSalle’s AB Mauri for its achievements in energy efficiency.
Fleischmann's was honoured during a luncheon at the Mount Royal Centre on February 12. Established in LaSalle since 1929 and specialising in baking yeasts, the plant employs about a hundred people who work in the company located on 31 Airlie Street.
Fleischmann's undertook several energy efficiency projects leading to savings of more than 7 millions of kWh. This represents a reduction of 17 % in its total electric consumption. The company has improved the efficiency of its blowers used in manufacturing yeast.
