Police arrest presumed Francoeur Street arsonist
Faces eight criminal charges related to arson
Supported by investigators of the City of Montreal’s arson unit, police officers of LaSalle’s station 13 arrested 42-year old Richard Proulx, who is suspected of starting some fires in Francoeur and Airlieu streets in the last few months.
The suspect’s arrest occured on Thursday evening, February 21. The presumed suspect is being charged with eight (8) criminal incendiary offenses.
Some buildings on Francoeur Street were suspiciously set on fire a few weeks ago. After that incident, police officers from station 13 requested the arson unit of the Montreal Police Service for assistance to investigate these criminal acts. Needless to add, the residents of these buildings had reason to fear for their safety.
As Commander Pierre Rousseau of station 13 explained, “the favourable conclusion of this investigation resulted from the wonderful collaboration of my police officers and the specialised units that were responsible for supporting us in solving this crime.”
