The man is accused of possessing a prohibited weapon and crack (freebase cocaine). The police officer responsible for the arrest has been a social community police officer who patrols the high school for 16 hours a week. After learning that his young brother was involved in a noon time fight in the school yard, the accused went to the school with the intention to speak to those who were allegedly involved; the situation, however, had already been resolved. Earlier, the police officer noticed the strange behaviour of a young student. When she came out with other young students to have a smoke, the police officer kept an eye on the area and noticed the suspect arrived in the school yard and a young girl came to join him. The officer asked the suspect to leave but he went inside the school anyway. She called for back-up and a patrol car arrived on the scene immediately. The officers went after the suspect and managed to control him on the second floor. A search led to the discovery of the prohibited weapon that the suspect was carrying.
