Echoes from Borough Council
Former Councillor Oksana Kaluzny asked why the Borough does not take the opportunity to carry out work for the repaving of a section of 43rd Avenue located between Des Rapides Street and LaSalle Boulevard while work is going on in Des Rapides Street. Mayor Manon Barbe replied, “the resurfacing costs have climbed exponentially because of the price of fuel forcing us to make painful decisions. We had budgets for 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 but the roads for the 2006 budget were delayed and postponed to 2007; that created a domino effect on the subsequent years. 43rd Avenue is on our list of streets to repave which will be done eventually.”
