Manon Barbe says “Sell or you will be Exproriated” !

Manon Barbe has a new secret project coming to LaSalle ! That project needs a lot of land. Current properties and businesses owners of the Lafleur/Clément area will either have to sell or get expropriated ! Several citizens affected by this project came to ask questions at the last two Counsel meetings. Manon Barbe told them that they will eventually have to sell their properties at an undetermined price and if they do not want to sell their homes or businesses they will be expropriated.

With this new project coming, borough Mayor Manon Barbe is quietly setting things up to make this a reality. Manon Barbe does not want to say what this project is all about. After being asked repeatedly what this is all about at the two last Counsel meetings. The only thing she would say is that it will “create jobs”. I don’t like secrets, why not tell us about this new project? If it's such a good thing and everything is done according to the rules then why not talk about it? Why all the secrets? Transparence in public affaires is the proper way to do things. At every level of public affairs; federal, provincial and yes that includes municipal affairs also. Transparency is the only way to go.

The big problem is that there is not enough information. From what we know now, the existing houses and businesses in that sector are in the way. It seems that this new project does not take into account the existing houses and businesses in that sector! Since this is a private project, the citizens cannot be expropriated for this. A way to side-step this rule is pretend your solving another problem. So Manon Barbe is saying that there is a traffic problem at the Clément/Lafleur intersection. She never talked about this before. Living very near that intersection and often taking the bus on that very corner, I can assure you that the only time there is a traffic problem is when the Mercier bridge is jammed.

Solving the non-existing traffic problem will be quite a feat. Since Clément and Lafleur are already 4 lanes wide. I have trouble imagining how the Manon Barbe administration will redesign this section of LaSalle to suddenly have the current residences and businesses in their way? Because that's what she will have to do to expropriate. Expropriation is only possible for public reasons. But I’m sure that the Barbe administration will figure a way to do that.

You can see on the web site www.ville-lasalle.ca a map that outlines the land owned by LaSalle and the existing land owners that are in danger of getting expropriated.There will be a register in the near future to have this project stopped. The goal is to have this secret project modified to protect the current citizens and businesses in that sector. So that everyone will be happy and nobody gets expropriated!
