LaSalle celebrates Canada Day with pomp

Several thousands of people came together for a magnificent summer evening in parc des Rapides to participate in Canada Day celebrations on July 1. Italian food, colourful and emotionally-charged shows and a spectacular fireworks display marked the occasion.

After the meal organised by LaSalle’s Italian community, revellers were treated to a show by Kevin Mark, a blues rising star. Sylvie Desgroseilliers and Florence K enchanted the public with their magical voices by interpreting several music numbers. Among the interpretations, the audience listened to grand classics such as <@Ri:>Donne Donne<@$p:> by Nanette Workman, <@Ri:>Aimer d'amour et Loin, loin de la ville<@$p:> by the Georges Thurston, <@Ri:>You're simply the best<@$p:> by Tina Turner and <@Ri:>I will survive<@$p:> by Gloria Gaynor. At around 10:00 pm, the public was enthralled with fireworks that graced the sky above parc des Rapides. The show continued until about 11:10 in the evening.
