Hank Palmer finishes second in the Championship Games of Athletics Canada
LaSalle athlete achieves his best individual record ever: 10.22 seconds
Sprinter Hank Palmer won second place in the crowning trials of the Championship Games of Athletics Canada held in Windsor, Ontario. This is less than a month away from the Beijing Olympic Games which officially begins on August 8.
The LaSalle athlete excels in the 100 metre race and achieved his best individual record ever at 10.22 seconds, a downward adjustment of 6/100 seconds. Palmer was outclassed by Ontarian Pierre Browne, who came in at 10.19 seconds at the finish line. Anson Henry and Sherbrooke native Emmanuel Parris ended in third and fourth places respectively.
“I was surprised because I had a leg injury”, said Hank Palmer during an interview with Sportcom. “I came here hoping that I would not get injured and finish the finals. Once I got here, I told myself that I should finish in the top four – that was my personal goal and I made it!”
By winning second place, the LaSalle sprinter qualified for the Olympics when he completed the screening process for the Olympic Games. Hank Palmer will definitely represent Canada in the 4 x 100 metre race in Peking. Eight Canadian athletes will be leaving for China soon. .
